Exotica: Santa Cruz Syndicate V10

This is a genuine, bona fide, Santa Cruz Syndicate V10 issued to Kirt Voreis for the 2008 season.

Aside from the custom paint the frame is entirely stock, (that’s how good SC build their frames - you get exactly the same as Voreis, Peaty and Minnar), but it’s got a bit of an equipment wish list hanging off it.

Avid Code brakes, SRAM XO shifting, Truvative cranks, Rockshox Boxxers (this particular model isn’t available to the public…) and a whole heap of other fun stuff makes this a multiple World Cup & World Championship winning ride.

The cost? Well, Santa Cruz don’t give these to anyone not on the team so I guess that makes it pretty much priceless.

Exotica: Moots YBB

In the first of our regular series highlighting the rare, ultra cutting edge or ‘just’ plain exotic we bring to you this custom built Moots YBB (Why Be Beat) softail Titanium Mountain Bike.

Crafted by hand in the Rockies from 3Al/2.5v Titanium alloy the Moots YBB offers up 1.125″ of pivotless rear wheel travel. Not a lot. Just enough. This bike isn’t designed to hurtle downhill or plunge through rocks and roots - it’s intended to keep you riding for miles in more comfort and for less effort than a conventional suspension frame does.

Moots offer a number of customisation options for their frames - from speccing extra bottle mounts all the way up to custom geometry - the benefits of building each frame fully by hand.

The Moots YBB and its softail design may not be new or cutting edge but it’s a classic - beautifully executed, constructed by craftsmen and built to last a lifetime. If you’re looking for the ultimate in hardwearing, long lasting Mountain Bikes and want something that could reasonably be expected to outlive you - then this bike simply must be on your list.
